This blog has been set up to highlight and follow the training and the ride from Lands End to John O'Groats - "End to End" bike ride that Sean Simington is undertaking in memory of his partner Shirley. Sean is riding to raise funds for the Big C drop in centre in Norwich. You can donate on the just giving site. The web address is above on the main title. Thanks for your support. Running and Riding.
Out today to keep the legs busy. Six mile run. This followed a 38 mile ride on Sunday. Trying to get out every day to do something. Weather pretty good although I find myself riding or running into a fairly brisk wind. Weather forecast cool and changeable this week. Looking for settled next week for start of the ride fingers crossed.

Long Weekend Ride
Got out on the road early today Saturday 11th May 08.45 The target was to ride to Sheringham on the North Norfolk Coast. Forecast was for strong south westerly winds with sunny intervals but no rain in the morning. I covered the 42 miles in a little short of three hours. Took a good rest at the coast and then caught the train to Norwich and then on to Wymondham. Cycled the ten miles from there to home. Very strong headwind which slowed progress just a little. Got back at home at 15.55 just in time to get my washing off the line before a huge downpour. I had successfully dodged the rain and completed a training ride of 55 miles. Legs in good shape and knees holding out apart from the odd twinge.

Naomi training her Dad!
Good old Naomi came up from London to check on her Dad and take him out on a training ride. This time they cycled to Norwich. With the wind on their backs they made it up there in double quick time. Caught the train back to Attleborough and cycled home from the station. 27 miles in total. Not bad for a short session. The weather was kind. All good preparation for the real thing. Less than two weeks till departure.

Richard Durrant joins the ride
Great friend of both Shirley and Sean Richard Durrant is joining Sean on the memorial ride for a few days starting on day 2. It will be a great motivation for Sean. Maybe we will be able to work on the new version of Boom Ooh Yatta Ta Ta. Picture of RD signing CD's at a concert in Paraguay. A group of young people from New Eccles are going to work in the Shanty Town in Assuncion this summer. Richard is the Patron of this project and has done so much to make it happen.
Another training ride today to Norwich, 25 miles.
This followed an 8 mile run the evening before. Legs are looking good even though I say it myself!!

Training ride near Leeds with son Thomas
Bank holiday weekend and a trip to see Thomas and Joseph. Left home at 05.50 on Sunday morning and made the trip in just over three hours. Took the bike and Thomas and his friend Chris took me out on a local ride. A chance to get some riding done in the hills just to the north of Leeds. 2.25 hour ride covering little over 46 kilometres with plenty of up and down and some wind to cycle into for good measure. Stopped at Eccup Reservoir for a rest and drink and then around to Otley and back to Leeds. A good work out. Some of the roads very busy. All good practice.

Another training ride.
Out today early for a training g ride to Norwich and back. Blustery day so the ride back was a little slower although that could just be my legs getting tired. Pleasant sunshine. Nice caramel latte and a sausage roll was the reward in the city. Need to keep control of fluid intake. Always my weakness. 41 miles covered in a little over three hours. Not bad for an old one.
